Medellin, Colombia – The serene city of Medellin, also known as the “city of eternal spring,” has recently been affected by horrendous incidents of underage sex trafficking. Once famous for its breathtaking scenery and warm weather, Medellin has now become a focus of an alarming increase in sex tourism. Foreign predators seeking to exploit vulnerable children have turned this picturesque city into a dangerous battleground.

Over the past year, authorities have made significant arrests, capturing foreigners such as Cristóbal Paulino Fernández Viamonte, Stefan Andrés Correa, Timothy Alan Livingston, and Juan Pablo González Delgado. These individuals have been accused of grotesque crimes, including sexual exploitation and abuse of minors. Despite these arrests, the threat remains pervasive, as pedophiles and human trafficking networks continue to prey on children, often exploiting their economic vulnerabilities and coercing them into prostitution.

In a decisive move to combat these transnational crimes, Medellin has announced the opening of an Interpol office within the city. This move represents a formidable step towards eradicating sexual exploitation. The newly established Interpol delegation aims to bolster existing strategies for the protection of children and act as a linchpin in the global fight against child sex trafficking.

The Interpol agency, which fosters communication with 192 countries, will bolster efforts in tracking down international criminals engaging in such atrocities. Hosting this prestigious agency accentuates the importance of collaboration amongst nations in tackling these crimes and protecting minors.

The announcement of the soon-to-be installed Interpol agency was met with widespread approval, seen as a critical advancement in the fight against the sexual exploitation of minors. The international body is expected to begin operations within the next three months at the Metropolitan Police Command of the Aburrá Valley.
