In what is not an unexpected reaction from various political entities, today, Saturday, July 13, 2024, many Democrats and Republicans rallied around Trump momentarily wishing him well after bullets shot people around him and glass whizzed and cut his ear. Most decent people – even with reservations or outright brutal dislike of Trump -do not wish for any type of harm to him and his families. Nevertheless, the incident makes many wonder how widely dislike is this potential president.

In the United States, politicians are widely reviled and presidents, perhaps, more so, because of the lack of a popular vote. By comparison, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, the current president of Mexico, boasts a popularity rating 10 to 15 points above Trump’s peak of 53 percent and Biden’s general popularity. The cheap and wide availability of guns also makes the issue of political polarization even more worrisome.
Democrats and Republicans alike have filled Twitter and social media platforms with statements condemning the attack on Trump. Online, the general public has expressed a range of emotions, some lamenting and blaming leftists while others have speculated that the entire attack was staged – a highly unlikely scenario – but, at the same time, consistent with Trump’s often farcical public showings.
We would do well to remember that discourse in the US gradually got more looney as Trump fanned conspiracy theories, laughed off similar attacks on Democratic politicians and remarked that he only liked ‘war heroes’ that are not caught. Ultimately, the discourse of spite and revenge has poisoned the entire political spectrum.
Nevertheless, Joe Biden condemned the attempted assassination attack on Trump. He publicly mentioned that he was glad for Trump’s safety and survival while also condemning political violence unequivacollay.

The shooting attack attempt was basically fractions of an inch of striking Donald Trump’s head. However, the bullet whizzed just above his right ear and struck the person behind Trump, which is the nights only fatality. Another person was seriously injured..
