MEDELLIN – COLOMBIA. The discovery of a deceased American, 54-year-old Jaime Eduardo Cisneros, in a rented Airbnb room in the Laureles commune has sparked an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
According to the police report, the incident was first reported by the hotel staff at around 7:13 p.m. on May 31st. The body of Cisneros, which showed no signs of physical violence, was discovered by an employee who became concerned after receiving unusual messages on WhatsApp regarding the guest’s credit cards. Apparently, they were asking key details about the guest’s credit cards, which prompted the employee of the managed Air B n B to search Cisneros’ room. At that point, the man was found sprawled on his bead, lifeless, unfortunately.
Sex Worker Found
Further investigation also revealed that the deceased had checked into the hotel with a sex worker on Thursday night. Police have surveillance footage from the hotel’s security cameras and a copy of the companion’s ID card. However, reports suggest that no valuables were found in the victim’s room or on his cell phone, raising doubts about the motive for his death.
This incident adds to the alarming increase in the number of non-immigrant foreigners who have lost their lives in Medellín this year. According to official data from local authorities, there have been at least 27 deaths of foreigners, including five cases of suicide.
The exact cause of Cisneros’ death has not yet been determined; it cannot be ignored that drug use may have played an important role in this case. Additionally, there are several key items missing from the victims room and investigation is ongoing.
