Mexican boxing star Saul “Canelo” Álvarez is taking a break from the ring to focus on one of his passions: golf. On Friday, May 19, Canelo will host and star in the second edition of the “No Golf No Life” tournament, which will take place at the Bosque Real golf club in Huixquilucan, State of Mexico.
The tournament will feature Canelo and other celebrities in a low ball modality for couples with a 50 handicap, and is already sold out. Among the guests are two former soccer players and sports commentators, Luis García and Jorge Campos, and the baseball player Jorge Cantú. Attendees will have the chance to win prizes, including three cars.
Canelo has said that one of his passions is golf, which he also instills in his five-year-old daughter, María Fernanda. He has said he wants her to become the best golfer in the world.
The tournament will be a chance for Canelo’s fans to watch him in a different light and enjoy a festive atmosphere with one of the country’s star athletes. It will also be a chance to see if Canelo can transfer his skills from the ring to the golf course.
