The tragic death of Paola Salcedo, 29, has shocked all of Mexico. The young mother, sister of soccer player Carlos Salcedo, was murdered outside a circus where she was spending time with her four-year-old son. In addition to being known for her work in television and her close relationship with sports, she was also the partner of former Millonarios goalkeeper Nicolás Vikonis.
How did the events occur?
The crime occurred on the night of June 29, while Paola was attending a local circus in the town of San Cristóbal, together with her son. The young woman briefly left the circus to attend a phone call, at which time two individuals approached her and shot her several times. Although she was rushed to a hospital, she unfortunately did not survive her injuries.
Although the investigation into the crime is still ongoing, what has generated a stir are the accusations made by Paola’s mother, Isabella Hernández Navarro, towards her own son, soccer player Carlos Salcedo. In a post on social networks, Hernandez accused Carlos and his wife, Andrea Navarro, of being the masterminds of her daughter’s murder. This accusation suggests that the relationship between Carlos and Paola was not good and was possibly full of conflicts and disputes.
Just days after the tragic event, Carlos Salcedo made the difficult decision to leave his current club, Cruz Azul, citing “personal reasons”. In addition, it has been mentioned that he plans to leave Mexico and even the world of soccer in general. These actions have generated even more suspicion around his possible involvement in the murder of his sister.
Paola’s family demands justice and that the facts surrounding her death be clarified. Questions about her relationship with her brother, as well as the motives behind the crime, must be answered. There can be no rest until justice is served for Paola and peace is given to her family.
