Floyd Mayweather With Conspicuous Absence In Mexico City For Promotional Event

Mexico City was the scene of a promotional event announcing an exhibition fight of Floyd Mayweather. According to the local news outlet, El Observador, Mayweather was not present at the Mexico City conference to promote the event.

On Twitter, rumors abound over whether Mayweather was actually in Dubai due to a supposed debt with local business interests. The rumor, however, has a dubious source: Rick Glazer, a frequent commentator whose ornery tweets may or may not be verified, but hold a certain amount of relevance due to his status as a boxing insider.

Nonetheless, the possibility that Mayweather was simply unable to attend a lucrative event may, in fact, be true since the retired boxer is not one to shy away from a “Money” making opportunity.

Who Are The Possible Rivals For Money Mayweather?

Initially, the actual organizers of the event floated the possibility of Victor Ortiz returning to the ring and facing Mayweather. The US based Mexican southpaw would likely be a game opponent, but the idea was then dismissed as a mere rumor.

At the moment, if any of Glazer’s assertions are true, Mayweather may have a bigger opponent in Dubai than in Mexico City.
