The Mexican regional music hitmakers, Fuerza Regida, have come a long way since they first blew up on the music scene with ‘Radicamos en South Central’ in 2018. Originating in San Bernardino, California, the crew has stayed true to their roots but collaborated across genres with Marshmallow and Shakira. These strategic moves have been key as the collaborations led to Fuerza Regida charting in the billions with their hit ‘El Jefe’, a tale as recurring as any other love hit, but this was motivated by hatred towards an insufferable boss.
Now, the group is back with more of their stylistic evolution with ‘Por Esos Ojos’, which this author heard blaring in speakers everywhere in Mexico City, Bogota and in Brooklyn, New York. The culture war is won and Mexican music is in no matter your first language, it seems.
Fuerza Regida’s Chart Positions In Last 2 Years
The group managed under the ‘Rancho Humilde’ banner has continued its streak of success with Spanish and English speaking audiences between the two countries of Mexico and United States. However, the impact of being so incredibly relevant in the two markets is global.
After all, Bogota, Colombia is never without these hits in their clubs, alongside their local helpings of Reggueton and Salsa. The group boasts about 33 million listeners on their Spotify page.
Analytics show that a huge number of their listeners reside in Mexico City, but their reach is felt virtually everywhere in the Spanish speaking capitals that are of consequence.
Upcoming Tour – Guatemala
The band is in a brand new tour ‘Esto No Es Un Tour’ as we type. Central America, like any other region in the world, is a great recipient of culture and consumer. The band is set to arrive in Guatemala City, Guatemala, for their March 28 concert in ESTADIO CEMENTOS PROGRESO, 15 Avenida 28-00, Zona 6, La Pedrera, Guatemala City, Guatemala. The ambiance should be interesting as it is usually a soccer stadium for both National club events and the local club ‘Comunicaciones‘.
Then, the next day, the crew moves to El Salvador for a similar styled show where then they move into Costa Rica months later. We will have more on that when the show date is closer.
On this note, recently when I attended a party, a woman of Costa Rican descent mentioned loving the group which can’t be a bad thing for Mexican men who don’t frequently have Hollywood exposure, but now, can finally reference a global musical phenomena on their own terms. It seems like with anything else, if the system won’t allow you means to success, then one must simply invent them to export and profit from cultural richness.
