La Cartita --- over 58 dead and 514 wounded after lone wolf gunman sniped at concert goers in Las Vegas. People attending the Route 91 country music festival were terrorized by a shooter, Stephen Paddock, 64, when he began sniping from a hotel window. Additionally, a Nevada sheriff has disclosed to local WKRG 5 News Channels that a female person of interest was apprehended. She is believed to have been a roommate of the suspect.

From the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, a 64 year old man opened fire on unsuspecting concert goers. People reported muzzle flashes from the upper floors. Eventually, Paddock was found dead from a self-inflicted headshot at the Mandalay Bay hotel. Las Vegas has lax gun laws as it requires no permit to purchase weapons, nor does it require a permit to carry rifles and shotguns. While the white gunman has no known terror connections, ISIS claims responsibility for the Las Vegas attack:

Most news organizations have reported the claim from ISIS' main propaganda arm 'Al Amaq' News Agency with a hint of skepticism. The ISIS propaganda arm has provided no evidence to support the claim. However, right wing sites have not only echoed the claim, but also sought to take attribution one step further and attribute the attack to a 'liberal' or a younger convert with an Arabic Muslim name.

Gunmaker Stock Is Up Thanks to Rumors of Regulation

As usual, Bloomberg reports that gunmaker stocks (Sturm Ruger, American Outdoor Brands) are gaining value due to active trades. Presumably, traders are anticipating a spike in sales as incidents like these tend to stoke purchases on the fear of legislation prohibiting or restricting gun possession and sales in the future. Video available through social media indicates the gun may have been a semi-automatica rifle converted into fully automatic, as seen below:
