A Stuttgart Court Is Prosecuting Gun Runners Linked To Ayotzinapa Weapons

La Cartita --- A German high court is prosecuting 6 German men in Stuttgart, Germany. One is prosecuted in absentia due to alleged health concerns and remains in Mexico. All are former employees of German weapons manufacturer 'Heckler & Koch'. H&K produces small arms for police, military and, increasingly, cartel operators in Mexico. An employee of H&K was the first to tip of 'Información sobre Armamento', a Mexican investigative organization specialized in tracking illicit weapons purchases within Mexico.

Interestingly, the defense attorneys made the case that their clients, mostly sales personnel, committed no crime because Mexican authorities had permitted the sale.

Germany prohibits the sale of G-36 rifles into conflict zones in Mexico, though the Mexican military is cleared to purchase them. Guerrero, the state in which 43 Ayotzinapa college students were kidnapped by municipal authorities, is classified by Germany and the EU as a 'conflict zone', as is Chiapas, Veracruz and a number of other states in which Cartel-on-Cartel or Cartel-on-Army violence is high. However, collusion between state authorities in both countries is suspected.
