Actions and confrontations
Authorities have located the property where Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada was allegedly held captive. This discovery comes as part of the high-profile investigation into the drug lord’s interactions. An entrance to one of the properties at the Huertos del Pedregal ranch was linked to the meeting place of Zambada, Héctor Melesio Cuén Ojeda and Rubén Rocha Moya. This site has been linked to Zambada’s capture and Cuén’s murder.

Political Involvement
In the midst of the unfolding controversy, President López Obrador states that if deemed necessary for the investigation, Sinaloa Governor Rocha Moya should testify about events related to Zambada’s apprehension. He also mentioned that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) could summon Rocha to testify along with Sara Bruna Quiñónez, following Zambada’s kidnapping.
Proceedings against Guzmán López
The FGR is now moving forward against Joaquín Guzmán López, El Chapo’s son, for the alleged kidnapping and delivery of Zambada to the US government. Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico City’s mayor, has said she respects the FGR’s decision to prosecute Guzmán López.
Is Zambada telling the truth?
Former presidential candidate Jorge Álvarez Máynez assures that it is a “shame for the State” that Zambada seems to have told the truth about the events of July 25 more than anyone else.
