This abominable fact has generated a wave of indignation and consternation, motivating the community to demand justice, but no conclusive evidence pointing at a suspect has been found so far. Urúba police colonel, William Alberto Zubieta Pardo, commented the following: “all resources are on the table to find the child’s killer(s) and a thorough investigation is set to be held in order to determine those responsible.
The minor, who was in the sixth grade, disappeared on August 1 while on her way to school. The desperate family began a search that was joined by neighbors and culminated in a scene of unbearable pain when the girl’s body was found in a pasture near the town where she lived with her family.
Forensic medicine confirmed, following an autopsy, that the young victim had been sexually abused, a revelation that exacerbated the community’s grief and anger. This revelation has sparked protests in the locality, where residents are demanding swift and decisive action by the relevant authorities.
In response to this heinous crime, the local police have launched a thorough investigation with the aim of identifying and capturing the perpetrator. This case dramatically underscores the persistent problems of child safety and sexual violence that persist in rural Colombia. As of late, many people migrate clandestinely through Choco and into the treacherous Darien river and jungle. Ultimately, scores of people who may commit crimes as they traverse the region.
