Mexicans in New York protest Enrique Peña Nieto visit at St Regis hotel in Manhattan, New York.

During the UN General Assembly, which takes place all this week, more Mexicans intend to protest the visit of the Mexican government to New York City. Yesterday, Mexicans in New York were outraged by the Enrique Peña Nieto visit at the St Regis hotel in Manhattan, New York. Many attended, including Antonio Tizapa, father of one of the 43 Ayotzinapa students.

La Cartita --- Mexicans in New York welcomed Enrique Peña Nieto into the city with protests. At the St. Regis hotel, amidst a well to do, upper class and white Manhattan crowd, Mexicans protested both the corruption in Mexico and the hipocrisy concentrated at the St. Regis where the UN General Assembly is taking place.

Protests have marked also the annual events held by the Mexican community in New York. Many denounce the presence of people aligned with the diplomatic mission of the Mexican government in community events. While the Mexican government is growing increasingly unpopular, the ire of of the Mexican public is not limited to Peña Nieto or his associates. Additionally, Mexicans are growing increasingly hostile towards Plan Merida, militarization of Mexican politics and US intervention in the region. More marches are planned up until the 2nd year anniversary.
