A recently surfaced (and disgusting) email exchange has drawn controversy around Mark Tramo, a professor of neurology and music perception at UCLA. The backlash highlights his connections to Jeffrey Epstein and remarks made in a now-infamous email post-Christmas that has been characterized as racially insensitive. In the email, referenced by user @weedenkim.bsky.social, Tramo allegedly addressed issues of “donor relations,” which has raised eyebrows among his peers given the nature of his recipient.
“Turns out, ‘donor relations’ involves emailing a sex trafficker the day after Christmas to drop in some random racism,” the user commented on Blue Sky.
Accusations against Tramo intensified with posts from users such as @spiritnavigator.bsky.social, who called for accountability, stating, “Find Dr. Mark J Tramo and hold him accountable! Throw him UNDER the prison, to the crocodiles!” In response to comments highlighting the neurologist’s research on baby behavior, @spiritnavigator wrote, “There is no spoiler cover over here.”
Further examination of Tramo’s background reveals a history of correspondence with Epstein, who has been implicated in numerous scandals surrounding sexual abuse and exploitation. User @neurocritic.bsky.social noted that “Mark Tramo, Neurologist, appears over 1,000 times” in documents connected to Epstein, indicating a significant professional relationship.
Most significantly, Tramo’s remarks about infant behavior also raised eyebrows and turned stomachs. The email discussed how babies respond more vigorously when hearing their mother’s voice. Given Epstein’s sordid history, we can not help but speculate as to what or with whom he would use that information. One thing is for sure, the emails uncover an elite detachment with basic moral behavior, which is echoed by academics who exploit a rigged game of servitude and favoritism to obtain their position.
Tramo’s professional reputation now hangs in the balance as scrutiny mounts from both the public and within academic circles. Good riddance.
