More than 7,000 high school students in Michoacán have commenced their training in artificial intelligence (AI) as part of the state’s “Plan Michoacán por la Paz y la Justicia.” This initiative aims to harness local talent and provide educational opportunities in technology and innovation across ten municipalities, according to reports from state officials and local education authorities.
The program includes courses at the newly established Centro Público de Formación en Inteligencia Artificial. Students are being certified in various fields such as artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and software development. Notably, students have already showcased their projects, including prototypes for emotional recognition AI, which underscores the innovative spirit fostered by this educational initiative.
“I studied in a CBTIS, and I know that such programs open up future opportunities for students,” noted an advocate from CBTIS 94 in Pátzcuaro, where many of the courses are taking place. The emphasis on practical applications and engaging learning environments aims to inspire and equip the next generation of technology leaders in the region.
Additionally, the initiative recently featured the introduction of “Tata Pancho,” touted as Mexico’s first AI tool designed to assist travelers in planning visits to Michoacán, showcasing the practical implications of the education being provided.
The Plan Michoacán reflects the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and improving educational outcomes amid ongoing efforts to promote peace and justice in the region.
