Walking into the song ‘Heartbreaker’ by Led Zeppelin, Brandon Figueroa showcased his knockout power today, February 7, 2026, in a dramatic last-round knockout against Nick Ball. Figueroa last had a Unanimous Decision win against a lesser known opponent, but prior to that there was a lackluster match-up with the pure boxer, Stephen Fulton. Thus, Figueroa had a bit of a chip on his shoulder to prove he could hang at the championship level.
For his part, Nick Ball, alias ‘The Wrecking Ball’, was undefeated and quite competitive in all of his prior matches. The mandatory challenger, Figueroa, for Nick Balll’s WBA featherweight belt was a 3 to 1 underdog in most bookmaker betting odds.
In addition to his knockout power, Figueroa’s relentless fighting style has been consistently praised. Eight weeks apart in age, Figueroa just could not be denied as his backhand landed on Ball as early as the fourth round where Figueroa could drown Ball with punch volume.
For the first 4 rounds, Ball was somewhat more dominant in spurts of the fight; the power shots and jabs were evenly split, whereas Figueroa was relentless landing double the number of power shots up until that. In the fifth round, the sequence at 0:49 showed Figueroa land counters after counters with his fast left hand that would double up in those kind of punch exchanges.
He previously stated, “It’s going to be difficult for him to match me if I’m throwing over 100 punches per round, as I’ve done in my recent fights.” His commitment to a high-volume punching strategy was evident throughout the match.
Looking ahead, Figueroa has his sights set on a homecoming match for his Chicano fans in Texas.
