In the midst of social media hysteria around the murder of a right-wing extremist, a bomb threat was called into the Colorado University at Boulder. The threat was ultimately a hoax, but the staff and student body was nonetheless disturbed.
Timeline of Events
- 11:20 a.m. – CUPD received an unconfirmed bomb threat targeting Norlin Library.
- 11:53 a.m. – Evacuations began at Norlin Library, Ketchum, and Ramaley. Police and K-9 units deployed.
- 12:10–1:07 p.m. – K-9 sweeps conducted; buildings remained evacuated while classes elsewhere continued normally.
- 1:14 p.m. – CUPD confirmed the bomb threat was false. Evacuation order lifted.
Current Status
- Norlin Library: Remains closed for the rest of the day. CUPD will escort students to retrieve belongings.
- Ketchum & Ramaley: Reopened; afternoon classes resumed.
- Other campus buildings: Operations and classes unaffected.
