In the latest article from Billboard.com, Carin Leon was praised as a potential bridge between Mexican and American south culture. But, first, the interview between Billboard’s correspondent and 35 year old, Carin Leon, touched on the very Mexican tradition of the Palenque. The intimacy between audience and performer is second to none.
The Palenque
The northern states of Mexico and southern region of the United States share a great degree of similarity. For one, the area of the country was once shared between these people until greed consumed the northern US neighbor. From the 19th century towards today, the term vaquero still means cow herder and is translated into ‘Cowboy’, a mainstay of Country culture.

Fuerza Regida Pivots To English
Just as Carin Leon acknowledged the influence of American artists, the California Chicano group ‘Fuerza Regida’ is also a powerful force in the regional Mexican music sphere.
In their latest album, 11XPantia, the group has a brief detour in the English speaking direction making full use of their native California bred English language. The sonic tour into country music is refreshing and the song is bold, part of the bonus edition of the same album. To be real, it’s only a brief foray in the ‘Como Tú’ and as part of a bridge for the rest of the song. Nevertheless, in doing so, the group recognizes that the guitar is universal, and having whisky in a bar is too.
They go even further using the banjo ‘Peliculiando’, the same song which they used in their Jimmy Kimmel appearance.
