Democrat’s Openly Discussing Replacing Biden Showcases the Best Alternative To Trump’s Authoritarianism

With the current fascination, concern and overall interest in seeing a definitive move from the Biden administration, the Democratic Party appears to rally around the concept of both acknowledging the general public’s angst at not having a physically viable opponent or alternative to Trump’s wacky campaign. Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama have used their relevant channels to signal that concern for Biden’s campaign is legitimate, but that he must willfully step down on his own.

Opportunity For Democrats

In some sense, this last minute pivot to a new candidate may actually be a decent opportunity for Democrats to show that they are willing to acknowledge the public will. This could provide a counter weight to Trump’s strongman appeal in politics. After all, Trump’s willingness to follow his gut over his intelligence agencies and actually worsen everything he touches is a stark contrast to presidential decisions – good or bad – that were more calculated.

Personally, I think no single president is as important as the totally of his administration, and so, even here, a vote for Biden is more a vote for the semblance of decency in politics and a cabinet as well as a vote against Trump’s style of politics. With Biden, it is saddening to see an overall decent man with a tragic backstory of losing children and a spouse get slaughtered on social media. This is in stark contrast with the most openly mysoginistic politician of all time. A wealthy heir to a known racist, Donald Trump’s only merit is being born rich and lucky whose cavalier personality parlayed into the presidency.

Biden’s Political End At The Top Of The Mountain

Ultimately, aging is a part of life. There’s much to say about the potential for younger people doing a better job and needing to engage politics. However, the mercilessness of it all and the fact that Trump is nearly 80 too makes the truth and its application to the situation seem so selective. Alternative facts notwithstanding, perhaps, if all these politicians looked more the part as in reflecting the general population, then we would be better off and less prone to these jolts socially.
