Starting May 13, a new community spotlight exhibit will take center stage in Denver, Colorado.
This presentation features artwork created by CHAC Gallery member artists. These pieces are illustrations of self-identity, family, cultural heritage, and spirituality. The artists of CHAC Gallery are a living and breathing history in Denver who strive to pass on their knowledge to the next generation.
The region of the Rocky Mountains has much to do with Chicano culture, serving as a historical crossroads where Indigenous, Spanish colonial, and Mexican traditions converge—shaping its music, foodways, festivals, and community identities in towns from Taos to Denver.
In the case of CHAC, the events coordination is done through the Chicano Humanities Arts Council, Colorado’s oldest Chicano nonprofit art organization.
The CHAC Gallery and Cultural Center was founded in 1978. CHAC aims to be an inclusive community of all creatives who endeavor to showcase, preserve, and educate the Rocky Mountain regional arts community through educational outreach, exhibitions, special events and artistic mentoring. Since before colonization, Denver has held a diverse Chicana/o, and other multi-cultural communities in Colorado.
