As technology advances and competition among tech giants intensifies, Google is taking steps to ensure it remains at the forefront of the race. At its annual developer event Google I/O 2023, CEO Sundar Pichai unveiled Duet AI, a new AI-based generative collaborator designed to assist users in programming.
Duet AI was designed to optimize the programming process by automating data classification and the creation of custom plans, enabling users to analyze and organize data faster, and providing code completion contextually, with suggestions tailored to the user’s code base, and generating complete functions in real time. It can also be used to create custom backgrounds for video calls, and enhance presentations with custom images created from text.
The introduction of Duet AI comes as rival Microsoft opens its free artificial intelligence tool, Bing, to everyone, and as Google continues its work on its virtual assistant, Google Assistant and Bard. Hsiao, Google’s vice president and general manager of Google Assistant and Bard, said that the assistant will soon be available in the top 40 languages of the world.
Google’s move to leverage AI to streamline programming is a testament to its commitment to innovation and staying ahead of the competition. AI-driven tools such as Duet AI can provide a much-needed boost to the programming process, and with its expansion into other languages and its integration with other Google products, it is sure to become an invaluable asset in the tech industry.
