Art is often defiant solely through its existence.

Conejo, whose real name is Jose Martin, is the famed Los Angeles rapper whose regarded as a living legend by Hip Hop globally. The esteem is held due to both the quality and longevity of his content along with the street credibility associated with the lyrics.

Quite appropriately, the rapper was on the run while releasing a long string of full albums with high quality production. In our view, one of the takeaways from this art is that the long arm of the American law was powerless against some cunning Chicanos. Again, without disengaging the need for rules, laws and morals, the art produced by Conejo was a big “Fuck You” to a system that habitually scapegoats and railroads Chicanos with the harshest crimes possible under any circumstance.

So, how many albums did Conejo actually create while on the run? The answer is not straightforward since the rapper himself does not recall those infinite sessions in various studios in Latin America/Mexico, however, we’ve found a minimum of 30 well documented albums listed on Youtube Music:

In the words of Proper Dos Producer, Ernie G, one of the oddities in Chicano rap is that most of the rappers are alluding to a background that they did not experience through 2nd or 3rd party references. As most know about the treacherous underworld of Los Angeles based Mexican and Mexican connected artists, it’s actually fairly dangerous to swing around with flash and false claims of gang life.
