Solid combinations from all angles secured a world title for the Chicano from Los Angeles, California. Joseph ‘JoJo’ Diaz is now the new IBF junior lightweight title champion. Tonight, Diaz pulled off an upset against the more favoured boxing veteran Tevin Farmer.
JoJo Diaz struggled less to make the 130lb weight as he appears more energized at this new weight. Consistently, Diaz landed body shots which were not countered by Farmer, whose known more for a defensive style. Still, he did not evade or bother with movement in this fight with Jo Jo. Instead, Farmer’s corner told him to box head to head.
Diaz was applauded for the accuracy of his body shots. Unfortunately, Farmer did not stay on his toes nor make much use of his jab. This allowed Diaz to land crisp body shots throughout their bout.
At 12 rounds, the fight went the distance with Diaz securing a unanimous decision, but Farmer leaving without being KO.
Curiously, Tevin Farmer kept blinking most of tonight. Looking up at the time, Farmer would blink frequently and seem almost distracted. Lou De Bella, his promoter, eventually, took Farmer to the hospital.
