In Calabasas, TMZ reports that Kobe Bryant was killed in a helicopter crash after a fire broke out in the engine bay. Bryant was travelling with 4 other people, but Vanessa Bryant is believed to have not been in the copter.
The 41 year old basketball star had recently retired, engaged in philanthropic activities throughout his storied careers. He is survived by his wife, Vanessa Bryant, but at least one of his children, Capri, Natalia, Giana & Bianka, is said to have been on the helicopter.
According to ABC news, the 13 year old daughter “GiGI” of the NBA star is thought to have died incinerated in the blast. A tragic end to both members of the Bryant family.
A press conference from the LA County Sheriffs is planned for 2 pm PST. The family of Kobe Bryant has been informed about both family members passing.
