The fight is for the undisputed lightweight championship belts all held by Devin Haney who dethroned George Kambosos in Australia and defended these same belts against Kambosos a second time.
Vasilly Lomachenko handled a game Jamaine Ortiz in his last bout. Initially, Ortiz was able to deflect and disrupt Lomachenko’s offense.
Lomachenko, the Ukrainian veteran, turned it up late in the championship rounds, handling Ortiz’ jab and placing accurate straight shots clear on Ortiz’ head.
Some tickets are fetching over 1400 dollars for premium seats. Haney and Lomachenko are not having difficulty fetching high prices on StubHub, but there is still availability.
Predictions
Many pundits are attributing to Haney a superior size and weight advantage for Devin Haney. Some individuals perceive Haney as fairly close to a super welterweight in size, and feel this physicality will overwhelm the much smaller Lomachenko. One of the most qualified to comment on the fight prediction is likely Jorge Linares. The Venezuelan lightweight fought both Haney and Lomachenko, and in a recent fight hub interview provided the best insight. He places the odds “60/40”, slightly favoring Devin Haney due to the physical advantages and youth.
