In a likely sign that the Trump administration is looking for new ways to abuse their Special Operations staff, the Trump administration has taken their MAGA friendly SEALS to work in an extrajudicial manner and bombard speed boats allegedly loaded with drugs. The practice is not new. Under both the George Bush Jr and Barack Obama administrations, the full breadth and depth of SOCOM personnel were deployed to find targets for a non-stop cycle of clandestine violence. Today, the priority seems to be to import the violence towards areas in Latin America rich in Cobalt, Oil and Lithium.
Drug Cartels – The New Excuse
Since Drug Trafficking Organizations (DTO) are now thoughtlessly declared as terrorist organizations, their elimination does technically fall under the never ending ‘Global War On Terror’ (GWOT). However, any reasonable observer of this GWOT + Drug War style interdiction realizes it will only lead to confusion. For one, the lack of charges brought against banks laundering oodles of money stateside. This implies that the application of the law will not be consistent.
Yesterday’s peculiar announcement, scant of details beyond what was announced through Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, betrayed the potential that the attack was likely engaging untrained civilian targets with the full might of Navy SEALS. The obvious overkill and action in what appear to be a friendly third country, Trinidad and Tobago, also suggests that there are significant kinds of coordination taking place to house and support these US operators in the Carribean. Other countries will soon take notice.
