A Woman From Rio de Janeiro Took Her Deceased Uncle to a Bank Branch to Claim a Loan

What happened last Tuesday at a branch of the Itaú bank has definitely shocked the population of Bangú, Brazil. The event was shared on social networks and has gone viral in just a few hours.

The video shows a woman trying to obtain a bank loan in the amount of 17 thousand reais (about $3,000 USD), while in the company of her uncle in a wheelchair. However, what disturbed the bank employees was that the elderly man was motionless and showed no signs of being alive.

Despite the obvious situation, Érika de Souza Vieira, the woman, still insisted on completing the paperwork, the woman holding her uncle’s head while asking him to sign the documents. “If you don’t sign, there’s no way. I can’t sign for you. Sign here. Sign so you don’t give me any more headaches,” Erika told her uncle. To the bewilderment of the employees, some of them decided to record the scene.

The situation became even more alarming when the SAMU emergency services arrived on the scene and confirmed that the elderly man, identified as 68-year-old Paulo Roberto Braga, was dead. The body was taken to the Forensic Medical Institute for further investigation.

The woman was arrested and details of the link between them are awaited. She could be charged with desecration of a corpse.

The community has reacted with indignation and concern over this unusual incident. Although the woman claimed to be the niece of the deceased, witnesses and bank employees could not help but feel alarmed and disturbed by the situation. It is expected that the facts will be clarified and the necessary measures will be taken.
