California’s Stars & Neighbors Band Together: Fuerza Regida Offers Hotels, The Mayweather Team Offers Assistance & TV Personalities Stay Behind To Evacuate

For three days, a fire that raged in the middle of the Pacific Palisades extending all the way to the ocean has continued only being 8 percent contained. Firefighters and machinery from all over the world has arrived to one of the more beloved regions for its culture, tolerance and glitzy setup.

From the midst of embers and flame, the painful call from Steve Guttenberg was made to his L.A. neighbors to evacuate the area. The former ‘Police Academy’ actor was one of many high profile actors and entertainers to call on his community to leave lest they be burned and killed by the flames engulfing one of the worlds most affluent communities. The Pacific Palisades is now ground zero for one of the worst disasters in Southern California, with property damage being pegged at 20 billion by Bloomberg.

Las Vegas’s most famous residen, Floyd Mayweather, who is known to be a generous and grateful athlete extended a hotline to his social media followers. The boxer made much of his fortune boxing in Nevada as thousands drove from California to see him in his many Las Vegas championship fights.

On social media, Fuerza Regida made the call-out to their community about how they have a hotel available for use by those affected by the fire. The group known for baroque style corridos all over North America calls Southern California home, with much of their audience residing near the LA area. The hotel became available at 3pm for up to 6 days while people sort out issues related to the destruction of their things.

Reporters Do Their Work

At Bloomberg, local reporters who made their way reporting for the OC Register and now Bloomberg, Josh Gittelsohn, has summed up for his social media followers what the scope of the fire is now and some of the details only locals perceive.

For instance, some residents are dodging the roadblocks trying to peer directly into the scene and witness first hand the impact.

Those residents who are tucked away far enough from the imminent danger are calibrating what will become of them after having so recently purchased a home in the area. The issue is that much of this land will likely not be developed as people are now irked at the prospect of returning to a fire risk.

Solutions

This may be the opportune time to consider control burns for ridding areas of excessive dried brush and plants. The issue at hand is that for centuries in the past fires were burned in a bid to avoid massive destruction from too much concentrated dried contents. These practices are linked to local indigenous groups who have repeatedly insisted that their customs be reintegrated into contemporary California.

As we learn more about the situation, the past could help us navigate an increasingly volatile climate changed environment.
