Colombian family last seen in Mexico City on May 28 has disappeared, triggering a nationwide search and deep concern among their relatives back home. The family, composed of 9-year-old Keily Beltran Martinez, 15-year-old Miguel Esteban Ramirez, 34-year-old Silvia Marcela Martinez Parra and 34-year-old Fredy Mendez Remolina. They had previously informed their family that they were traveling to Ciudad Juarez, a city in the state of Chihuahua.
For several weeks, family members appealed to local authorities for help in locating their loved ones, but it was not until last weekend that Mexican authorities formally issued a missing persons report and launched an active search operation.
In the face of mounting pressure on the Mexican government, the Attorney General’s Office has also taken action by preparing and distributing official search posters with photographs of the missing persons.
This troubling situation has raised questions about the safety of travelers in Mexico, as well as highlighting the ongoing problem of missing persons in the country. The Mexican government is urged to continue to work diligently to find and ensure the well-being of the missing family.
