The world of professional boxing was once again plunged into controversy in the midst of a long-awaited super lightweight fight. Fans had been eagerly anticipating a clash between rising star Ryan Garcia and WBA champion Rolando Romero, with talk of a possible showdown between the two dominant titleholders. However, a sudden turn of events has left boxing fans stunned.
It all started when Garcia, following his recent win over Oscar Duarte, decided to drop talks with WBC champion Devin Haney and instead seek a fight against Romero. The decision caught many by surprise, as Garcia had originally stated that his only goal was to face Haney. Despite this, negotiations with Romero began, but another hurdle presented itself when Garcia changed his mind, stating his desire to fight Haney.
Las Vegas boxer Rolando Romero, already a two-division world champion, took to social media to express his frustration. This time, pointing out the lack of seriousness of Oscar de la Hoya and Ryan Garcia. Here’s what he said in an instagram post.
“Fuck Princess Ryan Garcia, fuck Oscar de la Fishnets and fuck Dazn, the baddest broadcast network out there for wasting my time and more importantly wasting the entire boxing world’s time. It’s disgusting to watch them do business and then try to do it behind my back by offering Pitbull a deal and then claiming I’ve beaten the price myself. You all are screwed.”
Romero’s aggression toward De la Hoya and DAZN comes as no surprise, as he has expressed his desire to fight Garcia, who is also represented by Golden Boy Promotions. The two have engaged in a heated exchange online, with Romero criticizing Garcia for ducking him.
But it appears Romero’s attention has now shifted to Pitbull Cruz, a rising star in his own right and a top contender for the lightweight division. Romero proposed a fight against Cruz on the popular streaming platform Amazon Prime, claiming it would be a “blast.”
