Gervonta Davis vs. Frank Martin
This upcoming Saturday, June 15, 2024, the boxing world is set to witness an exhilarating match between WBA Regular lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis and challenger Frank Martin. The event is taking place at the iconic MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas and is creating waves of anticipation on various social media platforms. Martin and Davis are both Southpaws, which makes this an interesting bout for both of them as usually championship level fights dont involve both fighters opting for that stance. As far as we can tell, Davis’ being left-handed has proven an asset, but he has never seen a Southpaw as talented as Martin in our opinion.
The match-up comes in the wake of rumors regarding the supposed cancellation of the fight spurred on by Floyd Mayweather in his instagram. Mayweather was the former promoter of Gervonta and has now taken to Twitter and social media to discredit Davis.

However, sources in the boxing community have unanimously debunked these rumors, adding fuel to the anticipation for the weekend match-up. Ironically, the word ‘cancelled’ was misspelled as ‘canceled’ so many took to making cheeky comments about the boxers’ lack of literacy which has been an allegation first raised by 50 Cent.

For many, including his famous promoter, Errol Spence Jr, advice is being channeled for challenger Frank Martin as he prepares to face Davis. Spence has urged Martin to keep his bearings and maintain focus against the bristling energy of Tank Davis. Martin could complicate Tank’s sense of urgency as he tends to use the first part of a match to learn and read his opponents before opening up for more offense.
Martin is very fast and is actually a converted southpaw. This could imply that his jab also has an almost back hand level of power. He was able to KO Michele Rivera not too long ago with combinations all driven by his powerful jab.
