Mexican authorities have announced the arrest of Abraham Oseguera Cervantes, also known as “Don Rodo”, brother of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias “El Mencho”, leader of the Cartel de NNueva Genración (CJNG). The arrest took place in Jalisco on April 21st, according to reports from the Secretariat of National Defense. The capture operation was successful, not only securing “Don Rodo” but also a significant arsenal of firearms and a substantial amount of drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl, according to official reports. The action resulted from collaboration among various security agencies of the Mexican state.

The arrest of Abraham Oseguera Cervantes adds to the series of blows against the CJNG, one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in the country. Authorities have intensified their efforts to dismantle the cartel’s operations, which have been responsible for a wide range of criminal activities in Mexico and beyond. The arrest of “Don Rodo” comes just months after the capture of another of El Mencho’s brothers, Antonio Oseguera, nicknamed “Tony Montana”, in [date] in the municipality of Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, also in Jalisco. Both brothers have been identified as key figures in the CJNG’s structure, involved in logistical, financial, and money laundering operations for the criminal organization.

Authorities continue their work to completely dismantle the CJNG networks and bring its members to justice, in an effort to improve security and order in Mexico.

Abraham Oseguera Cervantes, alias “Don Rodo”, is recognized as the brother of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, leader of the CJNG, one of Mexico’s most dangerous criminal organizations. Born on November 18, 1953, he is 70 years old and, according to federal sources, played a crucial role within the CJNG structure, being one of the main logistical, financial, and violence-generating operators in the country. He is accused of carrying out money laundering and drug trafficking activities in the entity where he was arrested.

It is known that “El Mencho” has a total of six brothers; however, only two of them had proven ties to the CJNG. In December 2022, another brother of “El Mencho”, Antonio Oseguera, was arrested in Jalisco under the nickname “Tony Montana”, being identified as a suspected logistical operator and money launderer for the cartel. In addition to Abraham and Antonio, other brothers of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes have been identified, such as Miguel, Juan, Martín, and Rubén Oseguera, although less information is available about them.
