Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro claimed that renowned Colombian reggaeton star Karol G had sent him a song specifically for his campaign. However, the Colombian singer’s team has quickly denied this claim, clarifying that her music has no political purposes nor is she involved in the Venezuelan political scene.
During a campaign speech last Sunday, July 7, Maduro also dared to excitedly announce that the song would be released in the coming days. To increase the expectation, he did a dance that, according to him, he prepared to accompany the song, and mentioned that his followers abroad now call him “Nicol G”.
Nicolas aseguró que Karol G le envió una canción para su campaña electoral y ya está ensayando el baile. Afirma que fuera de Venezuela lo conocen como "Nicol G".

Karol G continues to tour Europe
The controversy comes at a time when Karol G, currently touring Europe with her “Mañana Será Bonito Tour”, continues to reach high levels of popularity. Her latest single, “Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido,” tops the charts in Latin America and has captured the hearts of her fans worldwide.
Amid intense economic challenges and political unrest in Venezuela, this unusual statement by Maduro adds a new layer of complexity to his already contentious re-election campaign. Questions about the ethics of using the fame of a global music sensation for political advantage have brought the president’s campaign tactics under scrutiny.
