Mourning For Peace: Tragic Death of Colombian Couple in Gaza During Middle East conflict
The recent escalation of violence between Israel and the militant group Hamas has claimed the lives of a young Colombian couple, causing grief and sadness to their families and loved ones.
The death of 28-year-old Antonio Macias was confirmed just four days after the Israeli government confirmed the death of his wife Ivonne Rubio, 26. The two were attending an electronic music festival near the Gaza Strip on October 7 when Hamas launched the first missiles in a series of attacks. Desperate to find shelter, the couple took refuge in a bunker, but tragically became victims of the violence that has left many innocent civilians dead.
The couple had 2 children. Ivonne, in her last communication with her family, had frantically informed them that they were under attack and were fleeing to a bunker for safety.
The loss of the Colombian couple in the ongoing conflict adds to the casualties on both sides. The recent turmoil started when Hamas launched a series of missile attacks on Israel, which prompted a strong response from the Israeli Army. The tensions have only escalated since, leading to the deaths of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
