In Cartagena, violence does not stop, the most recent incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, July 3, when a hitman attack left one person dead and another seriously injured. This act of violence took place within Colón neighborhood, a neighborhood in the area.
Violence plaguing the region
Witnesses report that armed assailants pulled up on a motorcycle and immediately opened fire. One of them shot the two victims, Jaime José Castillo, 32, who unfortunately died of his wounds on his way to a nearby health center. The other victim, identified as Alfonso Osorio, a concert businessman, remains hospitalized in critical condition. This is just one of 125 cases of hitman attacks registered in the city so far this year.
The police are carrying out investigations to identify the killers. But this incident raises serious doubts about the effectiveness of the security forces in controlling the escalating violence in the region. This news is still in development.
