Karri Ryder remembers her 24-year-old daughter, Melissa Bauman, as loving, passionate, and caring. Tragically, Melissa died of an accidental overdose on fentanyl after receiving treatment at Arlington Recovery Community and Sobering Center (ARC Sobering Center) in Riverside.
A civil lawsuit has been filed by her family against Riverside County and MFI Recovery, the company the county contracted with to run the center, due to allegations of records being falsified by MFI staff to indicate they checked on Melissa every half hour.
In December, Riverside County ended its contract with MFI, citing deficiencies and revoking its provisional license.
Melissa’s mother is now fighting for justice for her daughter, who deserved the treatment they allegedly offered.
