The United States presidential elections are one of the most important political events internationally. And the North American power greatly influences the world panorama. With this in mind, many eyes are on the possible 2024 electoral contest, in which a new confrontation is expected between former President Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden.
Since Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president in 2015, the US political landscape has been marked by his unpredictability and controversy. With a unique leadership style and a loyal fan base, Trump won the election in 2016 and became the 45th president of the United States in 2017. During his tenure, Trump clashed with the Democratic Party on several occasions, even reaching to the historic impeachment against him in 2019. Finally, in the 2020 elections, Democratic candidate Joe Biden won after a close electoral contest.
For the 2024 elections, several names are being considered as possible candidates within the Democratic Party. Among them we find President Biden, who at 78 years old could opt for a second term despite his age. Political figures such as Dean Phillips and Marianne Williamson are also mentioned, but none of them seem to have enough strength and popularity to challenge Biden in a possible primary.
On the Republican Party’s side, the situation is a little more complex. While Donald Trump remains a powerful figure in the party, all the judicial problems he is currently facing are an obstacle to a new candidacy. On the other hand, younger figures such as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis or former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley are gaining popularity as possible candidates.
There are also some emerging candidates such as businessman Vivek Ramaswamy or Arkansas governor Asa Hutchinson, who are beginning to make noise in the political world and could surprise in a possible electoral contest.
Whatever the scenario, the truth is that the United States presidential elections in 2024 promise to once again be a true political battle. It is difficult to predict who will be the next president of the United States. What is certain is that the world will have its eyes on these elections, since the result will impact the future of the nation and the rest of the world. We will have to wait a few more months to see who will emerge victorious in these elections.
