Australia’s Tim Tszyu KO’s American Tony Harrison in Round 9. Harrison was a former WBC champion at 154lbs when he beat Jermell Charlo in a 2018 upset via Unanimous Decision. Harrison, a superb boxer, was consistently throwing a jab towards Tszyu and was able to bag a few of the early rounds.
However, on the third round, Harrison was at the wrong end of a power shot and his ability to take a shot was evident. Tony was buzzed and Tim Tszyu took control of the round without rushing into a KO. The Ring Magazine’s editor in chief was quick to note this pivotal moment in the fight:
After a systematic breaking down of Tony Harrison, Tim Tszyu broke down Tony completely in the 9th round after multiple right hooks and left uppercuts went unanswered. In fact, many fans on social media decried the amount of punishment Harrison took, with too many unanswered shots with lack of defensive movement from Tony.
Progressively, Tszyu was able to evade most of Harrison’s jabs (the only consistent punch) while pinging Tony with powershots up to double of what Harrison’s connected punches overall in some rounds.
