In their season opener, NYCFC was able to contain Miami’s visiting Miami FC to no goals. Unfortunatley, for Inter Miami CF, their own defender can be credited with a deflection. In what could also add salt to the wound for Unter Miami FC, Captain Gregore was injured and taken off the field pausing play for several minutes while doctors checked on his condition.
Still, FC Miami, the football club owned by David Beckham, did better than last year’s 3-0 score from NYCFC in the playoffs, which may not be much consolation, but still makes the case that the team is improving year over year. Openly, the team is making the case for Lionel Messi to join their ranks, but the overall team must improve for the team to truly prove themselves worthy both for championship contention and for an elite footballer to join their rank.
