A little over a year ago, Mexico’s regional Mexican music group Grupo Firme made its debut, reaching unprecedented levels of popularity and success. From breaking attendance numbers at free concerts in Mexico City’s Zócalo, to selling out seven shows at the Foro Sol venue and collaborating with the likes of Maluma, 6ix9ine, Junior H, Banda El Recodo,Mané de la Parra, and Alejandro Fernánez, it is safe to say that Grupo Firme left a lasting impact on both Mexican and international audiences alike.

Now, it appears the group is on the brink of ending it all. Grupo Firme’s vocalist and leader, Eduin Caz, recently posted a message on his Instagram stories in which he hinted at a sad announcement soon to come – the group is on the verge of parting ways. “I see that success hurts a lot. Which ‘continue to decline’ Don’t you see that I just retouched a stadium? And apart from an after party where everyone does their main events, without offending my fellow musician friends. Now relax, I’m going to rest, I just need to complete Central America to get the last checkmark on my list.”

While no other member of Grupo Firme has commented on the matter yet, fans are already in mourning, with some saying that the group’s breakup could prove to be even more stone-breaking than their hit songs En tu perra vida and Ya Superame. This sends a powerful message to the regional Mexican music industry, highlighting both its potential for unprecedented heights of success and the perils of such accomplishments.

Only time will tell if this is the end of an era for regional Mexican music, but one thing’s for certain, Grupo Firme has left an indelible mark on the music industry in their short span of time together.
