On June 30, 2024, Mexican citizen Horacio Perez Ledezma was sharing with friends at a busy restaurant in the Provenza area of Medellin when his life was tragically and violently taken. An unknown man approached him without saying a word and shot him repeatedly, leaving the community in a state of shock and horror.
Security cameras at the scene recorded how the three men involved in the murder, including the main assailant, had been waiting for Ledezma for more than 15 minutes outside the restaurant before committing the crime.
The Mexican citizen, who had only been in the country for two days, was rushed to a nearby hospital but unfortunately could not survive the eight gunshot wounds he received. His death has generated outrage and has highlighted the problem of murders of foreigners in Colombia.
The authorities, through operation padlock, carried out an exhaustive investigation that allowed them to locate one of the motorcyclists who fled the crime scene. This individual, a 29-year-old Venezuelan resident in the area, was identified and subsequently arrested. In addition, the police intercepted the red vehicle in which the alleged murderer fled, and captured two men, aged 28 and 42.
