From rockets blasting off at Glastonbury Festival to pizzas wheeling their way through the sky in the U.K., Domino’s Pizza has shown the world that a new delivery method has arrived.
The iconic pizza chain’s entry into the aerial delivery market is thanks to a partnership with Gravity Industries, a maker of jetpack suits used by professional pilots to maneuver their way through the sky. Each suit costs in excess of $483,000, and this new partnership brings Domino’s into an elite class of aerial delivery companies.
The project was given the go-ahead due to the singer Elton John’s appearance as headliner at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in the UK. With a legacy of delivering pizzas to festival-goers, Domino’s found the inspiration for its new method in this year’s headline act.
The technological marvel of a jetpack-delivered pizza was something that Domino’s was determined to capitalize on. After trial runs in the Somerset area, the future of high-speed food delivery could be here sooner than we think.
“This new method has been able to beat the average delivery time by delivering food to attendees faster than ever before,” said Domino’s Sam Wilson.
The idea of a jetpack delivery person has been seen as a dream before, but now the dream could soon become a reality. With Domino’s innovation and the impressive technology of Gravity Industries, the future of fast-food delivery is now within our grasp.
