Thousands of Palestinians have been killed and injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip since October this year. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the total number of victims amounts to 24,448, more than 61,000 injured and in the last 24 hours Israeli forces have carried out more than 10 massacres. These attacks have caused widespread devastation in the region and have left many citizens homeless and food insecure.
According to UN estimates, 85% of Gazans have been displaced and all face food insecurity. However, the Israeli government has imposed severe restrictions on the delivery of aid to Gaza, making the already critical situation even more difficult. Israeli authorities have blocked the entry of aid trucks without their approval and thorough inspection, depriving many Gazans of access to essential supplies such as food, medicine and clean water.
The Norwegian Refugee Council has highlighted that more than 10,000 Palestinian children have already lost their lives in this conflict, surpassing child casualties in all recent global wars.
Journalists Murdered
The Palestinian journalistic community mourned the death of Wael Abu Fannouna, a colleague who was killed by Israeli airstrikes on January 18. He is the 119th journalist to die since the attacks began on October 7, surpassing the global death toll of journalists in the past two years. This incident highlights the perilous situation that journalists in conflict zones face, where they are not safe even in their own homes.
As the death toll and displaced people continue to rise, it is crucial that the international community take action and end this tragic conflict. The lives of innocent Palestinians are at risk and immediate steps must be taken to protect them and provide them with much-needed help.
