A train 10:43 a.m. departure from Grand Central bound for Hempstead.
According to the FDNY, a train heading to Hempstead, New York, derailed en route which caused varying degrees of injury to 7 people, but these are non life-threatening.
The exact tweet reads: “FDNY members are responding to train derailment at 175th Street and 93rd Ave at the Hillside Yard in Queens. 7 injuries total, non life threatening”.
However, that figure has increased to 10 injuries and it is likely that these will increase in severity due to the nature of the accident. Train accidents, like car accidents, tend to have subtle aftereffects for the victims in which transit authorities, presumably, must contend with liability.
