Amid a growing conflict in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, Tesla CEO Elon Musk accused OpenAI of “poaching” his company’s top artificial intelligence (AI) engineers in a recent X thread. According to Musk, OpenAI has been hiring Tesla employees at better salaries, causing some of them to leave the electric car company.
“They have been aggressively recruiting Tesla engineers with massive compensation offers and unfortunately have been successful in some cases.” expressed Musk in his X account.
Faced with this situation, Musk has taken action at his own company and announced an increase in the salaries of AI experts to retain their talent and protect Tesla from any potential harm. Meanwhile, OpenAI has not responded directly to Musk’s accusations.
This war between Tesla and OpenAI is not new. Both companies were founded by Musk, but he resigned from OpenAI’s board in 2018 due to disagreements over the company’s direction. Now, it seems their rivalry has shifted to hiring top talent in the AI industry.
With all the rise of artificial intelligence, companies are on a continuous search for the best engineers to help evolve their technologies. Tesla, known for its groundbreaking AI-powered autonomous technology, has been at the forefront of this race.
