On social media, people are still reacting to the victorious Naoya Inoue, after the multi-divisional champion Japanese boxer won yet again by KO against a game Luis Nery, Mexican former champion.
At the Tokyo Dome in Tokyo, Japan, Naoya Inoue defended his undisputed titles in the Super Bantamweight division (27-0) against Luis Nery (32-2) on Monday, May 6, 2024, winning via Knock Out in the 6th round. In front of more than 50 thousand people, Inoue faced adversity but also showed resilience and prime athleticism after getting pushed to the limit in the first round.
Luis Nery was game from the first round, however, achieving a knockdown of from a nice rear, left hook from his back hand that stunned Inoue, dropped him, but also caused him to return swinging afterwards. The rest of the fight was then willed from Inoue’s perfectly technical and violent offense, but also twitchy defense. Nevertheless, the fearlessness of Nery was appreciated by the Japanese audiences.

One thing to note is that Inoue was dropped, but his defense was excellent after that 1st round. Fighting from the ropes, his exceptional defensive skills allowed him to not only pull back at an angle, but also deliver a counter right hook against a Nery who was pressing the action.
