Former President Donald Trump appeared at the “Sneaker Con” event in Philadelphia to promote the launch of his new $399 metallic gold high top sneakers. Trump’s presence at this event was announced by his campaign officials on social media, which generated a mix of boos and also applause from the crowd present at the Convention Center.
The sneakers, gold in color with a T on one side and on the back the American flag are sold as “Never Surrender High-Tops” and sold out in less than a day and only 1,000 pairs will be manufactured.
However, this controversial move comes at a delicate time for Trump, who faces multiple lawsuits and legal challenges. This week, a New York judge ordered Trump to pay $355 million in fines for lying about his wealth and civil fraud. In addition, he was ordered to pay $83.3 million in damages to columnist E. Jean Carroll for defaming her after she accused him of sexual assault.
Since Trump acceded to the presidency in 2017, he has relinquished control of the Trump Organization to a trust and resigned his leadership. However, due to a recent court decision, he will be barred from holding executive positions in New York companies for three years, forcing the organization to look for a new person to lead it.
As his legal and financial problems continue to pile up, Trump shows no signs of retiring from public life. The former president continues to move forward with his business projects and promotions.
