The Medellin clinic building which stands tall in the El Poblado neighborhood of Medellin, Colombia, witnessed a shocking incident on Thursday morning. The disturbing event whereby gunshots were heard in one of the offices, leaving one injured and a renowned medical professional dead, has cast an endless shadow of doubt over the safety of the community.
The incident took place on the ninth floor of the clinic, where a patient fatally shot Dr. Juan Guillermo Aristizábal. According to reports, the patient entered the office and without any provocation, attacked the doctor, ultimately ending his life. The shocking incident also left a patient injured, whom the shooter intended to treat. The health status of this person is still unknown. Apparently, after shooting the doctor, the suspect set fire to the consulting room, causing panic and chaos among those present.
The suspected shooter, whose identity remains undisclosed, was later found dead in one of the bathrooms on the floor. It is also believed that the attacker may have suffered from psychiatric issues, shedding light on the potential motive for the heinous act. In light of the tragic incident, the clinic has been cordoned off as an area of investigation while the police and medical personnel continue to provide assistance to the wounded and evacuating patients and staff from the building.
