Early Sunday morning, tragedy struck the small town of Dadeville, Alabama, when a shooting at a teenager’s birthday party left four dead and multiple injured. The shooting occurred at approximately 10:34pm near the 200 block of Broadnax Street in Dadeville.
The State Bureau of Investigations launched an investigation into the incident at the request of the Dadeville Police Chief. According to the agency, the cause of the shooting appears to be an argument between attendees of the party. Five of the injured are currently in critical condition, according to the local hospital.
The tragedy has rocked the small city. “One of the young men killed was one of our star athletes and just a great guy. He knew many of these students. Dadeville is a small city and this is going to affect everyone in this area,” said local resident Hayes.
Governor Kay Ivey expressed her condolences in a tweet, writing “This morning, I mourn with the people of Dadeville and with my fellow Alabama. Violent crime has NO place in our state, and law enforcement is keeping us informed as details emerge.”
The small town of Dadeville is located about 50 miles northeast of Montgomery, and has a population of just over 3,000. Local authorities are still investigating the incident and have yet to release any further details.
