Colombian singer Goyo has been widely criticized after a recent performance in which she tied a cat around her neck while singing on stage.

Goyo, the former vocalist of ChocQuibTown, won the “Root Woman of Our Land” award at the twelfth edition of the Nuestra Tierra Awards, for her struggles against Afro-Colombians and for dignifying the Colombian female population through music. However, her live show fell under scrutiny when she appeared on stage with a cat tied around her neck.

The moment was captured in a video that was later published on Twitter, which criticized the author of songs like Pa’ olvidarte and Desde el día que te fuiste. Many Internet users expressed outrage at the animal abuse and pointed out the apparent fear of the cat. After noticing the uncomfortable situation, a member of the logistics team entered the stage and removed the pet from the scene.

In response to the backlash, Goyo has not yet issued a statement. Animal rights activists have called on the singer to take responsibility for her actions and to raise awareness about animal cruelty. With many celebrities using their platforms to speak out against animal abuse, Goyo has been urged to do the same.
