At 28-years-old, Sucely Chuc has already achieved more than many fashion designers could ever dream of in their entire lifetime. By starting her business with virtually no background knowledge in the fashion industry, she has gone on to create traditional and wedding dresses for the modern world.
Starting her journey through Youtube sewing video tutorials, Sucely quickly learned to make custom-made pieces that accentuate the beauty of a bride on her big day. This passion was ignited even further after the Covid-19 pandemic saw the launch of her online store, MZU, where clients can request designs tailored to their individual tastes and preferences.
Since then, Sucely’s unique designs have been met with a massive positive response, propelling her work into the spotlight and making her a hit on social media platforms such as TikTok. In no time at all, her dress designs were soon being used to dress brides from across the globe, with Maragda’s creations now being shipped to wholesalers in the United States and markets in western Guatemala.
Not only has she made an impressive breakthrough in the fashion world, but she has redefined beauty from a Guatemalan perspective. Speaking about her success, she said, “We are a business family that came out of extreme poverty and we set ourselves challenges. Mine was to create my designs.”
